Feedback Loop

This service is ideal for those who are in the drafting stages of their work and could use some feedback to better understand how an outside reader might respond to aspects of their work. As with any Writing Center session style, it is helpful to direct the tutors to areas that you think are not working well, or to include other questions that can guide their reading.

You can use the scheduling system Retain to submit a document to our free Feedback Loop service. The document will be added to a queue. Tutors will respond on a first-come first-served basis. They will spend up to 45 minutes offering comments in the margins to provide suggestions, ask questions, and otherwise point out patterns in your writing. When they have completed their feedback, they will re-upload the document and make it available to you to download. Ideally, you would incorporate some of the feedback and revise before resubmitting. Per our policy, students are limited to two open submissions in the queue at a time. Once you receive feedback on one of your open submissions, you may submit another file.

When your document is ready, you will receive an email confirmation to download your feedback. Please expect comments to be returned within 3-5 business days. If you need more immediate feedback, we encourage you to make a Zoom or In-Person appointment.
