About THINK TANK Academic Services

Most THINK TANK services are free to currently enrolled University of Arizona students and most students get the support they need from our free services. We charge fees for additional, individualized support and for services that have been customized to meet specific goals for different courses or groups. 

We offer a limited number of scholarships to cover 100% of the one-time cost of a THINK TANK fee-based service. Scholarships are awarded based on multiple factors, including financial aid awards, referrals from university staff, individual circumstances, and the availability of funds. We have established the following policies for fee-based services.  


Fee Based Services

Individual and Group Private Tutoring Policies

  • By signing up for a private or group session, you agree to have your Bursar’s account billed unless you have received a THINK TANK scholarship for the service. Each private session costs $25. Group sessions cost $17.50 per person. 

  • For group appointments, at least two students from the group must attend each appointment for the group rate to apply.  

  • Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. You will be billed for any appointment you sign up for and do not cancel on time.   

  • You can cancel appointments in our scheduling system. If you are not able to cancel in the scheduling system, you must contact our reception desk staff. If you call when we are closed, please leave a voicemail. Do not contact your tutor directly to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

  • Appointments you do not attend or cancel are considered a 'no show.'   

  • After three no shows, the Tutoring staff can cancel any future appointments made and you will need to meet with the Tutoring Services Manager to have your appointments reinstated.  

  • No refunds will be issued for no shows.  


Math Exam Prep Policies

  • Each Math Exam Prep session costs $25. By signing up for a session, you agree to have your Bursar’s account billed unless you have received a THINK TANK scholarship for the service.  

  • Sessions must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. You will be billed for any session you sign up for and do not cancel on time. No refunds will be issued for sessions that are not attended.  

  • You can cancel sessions in our scheduling system. If you cannot cancel in the scheduling system, you must contact our reception desk staff. If you call when we are closed, please leave a voicemail. Do not contact the Exam Prep Leader directly to cancel. 

  • Attendance is taken at every session. If you attend a session you did not sign up for, you will be billed for the session based on the attendance roster.  

  • We offer multiple sessions for each exam. Each session for a given exam covers the same material. We encourage you to only sign up for one session unless you feel you would benefit from reviewing the same material more than once and want to pay for multiple sessions.  

Academic Coaching Policies 

  • Every student can have up to four free sessions of Academic Coaching each semester, including summer. If you want to meet with an Academic Coach more than four times in a semester, you can purchase additional sessions. 

  • During the process of purchasing additional sessions, you will be asked to acknowledge that your Bursar’s account will be billed before your first session unless you have received a THINK TANK scholarship for the service. One additional one-hour session costs $50, an eight-session bundle costs $375, and a twelve-session bundle costs $575. 

  • Students are limited to purchasing a number of additional sessions equivalent to one one-hour session per week from the time their registration is processed to the end of the semester.  

  • If you purchase enough individual sessions to equal one of our established bundles, we will adjust the billing so that you pay the price of the bundle or the least expensive option.  

  • The number of sessions purchased must be used by the end of the semester you purchased  
    them in.  

  • You can have one appointment per week.  

  • Cancellations should be made 24 hours in advance whenever possible. You must contact your Academic Coach to cancel an appointment.  

  • Appointments that are not cancelled are considered a ‘no show.’ 

  • No shows cannot be rescheduled. 

  • No refunds will be issued for unused appointments or no shows. 

  • After three no shows, you must email your Academic Coach for future appointments. If signed up for a bundle, your remaining appointments will be cancelled until you contact your Academic Coach to reschedule.
